Athletic Rugby are the new Colin Lyver Premier Division Cup Champions, their 2-0 victory over Burn Valley Club (after extra-time), made them only the third club to win the competition since it was renamed several seasons ago. Until tonight Lion Hillcarter and Rovers have been the only names on the cup, Lion winning it in the 2006-07 season. Congratulations to both teams in a hard fought match, which was watched by a large crowd at the enclosure. League Chairman, Peter Rhoden presented the trophy to the winning side:

Camerons Club FC today put aside the disappoinment of losing on on promotion on the last day of the season, by beating Greatham FC 3-1 in the final of the Barry Hogan 1st Division Cup. Camerons went behind in the first half, but bounced back to take the silverware. League Chairman, Peter Rhoden is seen presenting the cup.

The new league champions were tonight presented with the Premier Division trophy following their 4-1 victory over Burn Valley at King George. League Secretary, John Cooper is seen with the two captains, Graham Brown and Gary Rowbotham.

We have received the resignation of Ace Balloons FC from Division two. The league would like to thank Bill Skirving and his players for their involvement in the league. Ace had finished the 2006-07 season in one of the two re-election places. The final relegation plcaes have been revealed following tonights matches. Corner Flag Social Club and Hartlepool Snooker Centre are scheduled for relegation from division 1 to division 2 and W.H.T.D.S.O.B. is scheduled for relegation from the Premier Division to Division 1. All issues will be discussed, voted on and confirmed at the AGM in June, following the 3 club resignations received.

The Hartlepool Sunday Football League has new Champions, ending a 17 year domination by Lion Hillcarter and Rovers. Throston Wanderers FC secured the title with a 4-0 victory over Raglan, after Rovers FC lost 2-1 to Lion HIllcarter. Rovers were pushing for their 6th consecutive title. Apart from Lion / Rovers, Belle Vue Social Club were the last team to win the title in the 1990-91 season. Throston will be presented with the trophy after the final Premier Division league game on Thursday night when they host Burn Valley Club. Congratulations to John Sutheran and his team on their achievement.
Congratulations to Welfare Athletic FC, who have been crowned 1st Division champions. Travellers Rest will Join Welfare in the Premier Division next season following their 1-0 victory over the champions, which moved them above Camerons Club. League Chairman, Peter Rhoden is seen presenting the trophy to the Welfare Athletic captain.

Applications for clubs wishing to join the league are now being accepted. Please apply in writing to the league secretary, John Cooper, 31 Amberton Road, Hartlepool TS24 8LT. A £5 application fee must be enclosed, which will be refunded if your application is unsuccessful. Applications must be received by 15th May
We have also received the resignation of Corporation Welfare FC from Division 1. Once again, we pass on our thanks to everyone involved with the club for their involvement in the league.

West Park Idols have played their final game in the league, after 17 years. Despite losing 7-2 to Supporters it was a day of celebration, with players and management from the past and present saying farewell. The club originally joined the league as White House FC, under the management of John Mason. The league would like to thank West Park for their participation over the years and wishes everyone connected with the club the very best.

Congratulations to Goldmine FC, who secured the 2nd Division championship following their victory over Ace Balloons FC. A win in their final league game will see the champions complete their first campaign without a league defeat. Blackhall Old Boys will join Goldmine in the 1st Division next season. Good luck to both clubs in the 2008-09 season .
